Huston Vineyards is a second-generation family farm, winery and tasting room located in the Snake River Valley AVA. We produce approximately 10,000 cases annually consisting of three brands, including: Huston Vineyards, Chicken Dinner and Convergence 46. Our tasting room is open 7 days a week and we also self-distribute locally as far east as Mountain Home, Idaho, west to Baker City, Oregon, and north to New Meadows and McCall, Idaho. We have a 32-acre vineyard and production facility located on our estate vineyard site.

Tasting Room Team Member

As a tasting room team member you will greet and engage with customers; educate our guests on the Snake River Valley AVA, Huston Vineyards and various wine varietals; and share information about club membership opportunities and assist with wine and merchandise purchases. Team members set up the tasting area and maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the tasting room. Huston Vineyards has a great team and we meet monthly for wine education and team building. This is a fun way to learn about Idaho’s exciting wine industry!

Wine Cellar Team Member

This position performs all harvest related activities associated with making wine. Responsibilities may also include, racking, filtering, clarifying and blending of juice and wine, sanitation in all areas of cellar operation, cleaning and sterilizing tanks and other equipment. Long hours during harvest are required to meet operational needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $14-20 per hour DOE plus bonus potential

Schedule: 10 hour shifts, Monday–Friday, Weekend availability

Key Responsibilities:

  • General preparation of winery equipment including extensive cleaning and sanitation
  • Operate fruit receiving and processing equipment.
  • Operate press cycles as instructed
  • Conduct punch downs around the clock as needed
  • Transfers and racking of juice from tank to tank.
  • Accurately complete work orders and other tracking documentation.
  • Follows standard operating procedures in the performance of all cellar activities to ensure maximum productivity and wine quality objectives are achieved.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
  • Operate tractors, forklifts and other associated equipment
  • Work in an unsupervised role following and implementing detailed instructions
  • Other duties as needed.

Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience with at least one harvest preferred.
  • Perform basic math calculations to complete written work orders.
  • Able to manage multiple changing priorities, be organized and follow workflow procedures even with interruptions
  • Valid drivers license
  • Candidate must complete & pass a post offer pre-employment drug test

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to learn winemaking operations
  • Accurately measure, prepare and make additions to juice, must, & wine.
  • Ability to recognize and report off aromas in tanks.
  • Complete Filtration.
  • Operate Forklift
  • Operation of mechanical equipment.
  • Mechanically inclined

Physical Demands and Work Conditions:

  • Able to work long hours with flexibility in work hours and work days during harvest
  • Working conditions in certain areas of the winery can be cold/hot, wet, slippery and noisy
  • Able to handle hazardous materials, ladders, and wine hoses
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Wholesales Sales Representative

On-Premise – restaurants, event sites, golf courses and hotels

  • Prospecting, selling and maintaining relationships with on-premise accounts. Offering business focused solutions.
  • Identify key new on premise, off premise accounts in Treasure Valley East or West Territory
  • Research new customers, establish contact, analyze menu and identify decision makers.
  • Create and execute a sales strategy for each on-premise account
  • Meet with potential buyers
  • Forge key relationships with on-premise buyers and serving staff
  • Provide Server Training to on-premise customers
  • Contact customers on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis as identified by previous order patterns
  • Create invoices based on order ensuring accurate quantities and pricing

Off Premise – grocery stores and wine shops

  • Conduct store checks, fill shelves with backstock and set up deliveries each week
  • Establish good rapport with receiving clerks, wine stewards and store managers
  • Work with key grocery team members on shelf space, shelf position, store challenges and opportunities and in-store tasting
  • Conduct In-Store Tastings as allowed by store management
  • Ask for and create in-store displays as opportunity allows
  • Develop most time efficient route for visiting all on-premise and off-premise customers.
  • Create accurate invoices and pull orders for delivery.
  • Contact customers on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis as identified by previous order patterns
  • Create invoices based on order ensuring accurate quantities and pricing
  • Prepare and deliver accurate order for each customer
  • Establish delivery route and schedule based on territory, orders and receiving hours
  • Drive delivery van safely to customer accounts

Skills and requirements:

  • Excellent verbal, written, listening and presentation skills
  • Ability and desire to cold call and follow up with prospects
  • Able to manage sales process
  • Organized, able to plan strategically and have attention to detail
  • Able to establish and build rapport with customers
  • Able to work in multiple settings including team environment and independently
  • Have great interest, knowledge and passion for the wine industry.
  • Experience with Microsoft suite and QuickBooks
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must have clean driving record & pass a 4 panel drug test
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
