(Huston, ID) Malbec is one of the many varietals that grows well in the Snake River Valley AVA. Malbec thrives in the Snake River Valley’s dry climate and high-elevation vineyards. Huston Vineyards has been producing this award-winning varietal and touting its merits since 2011.
On April 21, 2018, Huston Vineyards, along with other regions around the world, will celebrate the varietal for World Malbec Day.
Owner Gregg Alger said, “We are looking forward to this annual event for many reasons. Our Malbec has consistently been a standout, especially the 2015 vintage which recently won Best Red in the Northwest Wine Invitational. We also love to work hand in hand with local growers and chefs in pairing wine and food.”
This year’s event includes two options for celebrating World Malbec Day on Saturday, April 21st. During the day, Huston Vineyards will sample the 2015 and 2016 vintages in the tasting room between 12-5pm. Tango’s Argentinian Food Truck will be on hand, serving authentic empanadas for purchase. That evening, Nampa’s Tower Grill owner and chef, Nate Lindskoog, will prepare an Argentinian dinner featuring roasted local lamb. The dinner is currently sold out.
Chef Lindskoog has a passion for South American cooking and sharing this style of cooking with the Treasure Valley.
“Having just returned from Argentina’s Mendoza Wine Region, I’m even more excited to share our Malbec and host this one-of-a-kind event here at Huston Vineyards,” added Alger.
Huston Vineyards, established in 2006, is owned and operated by Gregg and Mary Alger. The tasting room is located at 16473 Chicken Dinner Road in Caldwell.
