In 2008 Huston Vineyards partnered with Melanie Krause, owner of Krause Family Cellars. With a shared philosophy of quality first Melanie and the Alger’s started their relationship on a hot summer day with a handshake and a glass of wine.

Melanie, a native Idahoan and Meridian High School graduate started her enologist background after completing her Bachelors in Biology from Washington State University. Knowing that quality wine starts in the vineyard, Melanie began her career as a vineyard technician in Washington. Melanie was hired as an enologist and later promoted to assistant wine maker for Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Canoe Ridge Estate Winery. In 2006, Melanie moved back to Idaho and started Cinder Wines. Her knowledge, talent and expertise are an integral part of the Snake River Valley AVA.
